Post The Walking Dead: Really?
on: March 15, 2012, 17:11

We're a few short days from the finale and I've got to say a few angry, swear-filled things about this season.
I'll keep it spoiler-free, but please presume spoilers will be in subsequent comments.

The Walking Dead sucks now. It pains me to say it, you don't even know how much. The husband and I were both SO stoked when we heard that Darabont was doing TWD, that they had a fantastic cast, and they were pumping some real money into it. Sadly, all of that lasted for one season. Season two, a way-too long arc leading to what ended up being a really good mid-season finale--though it should never have taken 7 whole episodes to get there. Or six...I forget now. Anyway, if you've been watching I'm sure you know all the stupid plot points and ridiculous idiocy that's been going down this season. And I don't just mean that all the women and kids are positively insufferable...

As much as I adore the work of Greg Nicotero, and think The Mist is a damn near perfect horror film--fuck him for the goings on with the swamp zombie. And fuck him for all that CGI blood. To you I say: Is that what you learned studying under Tom Motherfucking Savini??? (pretty sure that's his name now) To use goddamn, goddamn CGI blood? What are you, SyFy Saturday?!?
Just so you know, I'm not paying to own that shit either.
And I bought the first season on DVD despite its absurdly high price.

You people could have elevated the zombie genre in a way we've not seen since the time of 28 Days Later. Giving the world a riveting, action-filled, compelling zombie drama with high production values and intense and artful direction--and what did you do? You cheaped out.
And you artists? You stood for it. It is bullshit. As a fan, it offends me.
You all should be ashamed.
Except Jeffery DeMunn. I will always love you, Sir.

Don't hold back now, tell us how you really feel...

I kept thinking, "Ya know what I'd love to see on a show called THE WALKING DEAD? Motherfucking Zombies!" Only a few episodes had hordes, but it looks like the finale will finally give viewers what we want when it comes to dead on screen...

We shall see.

Right. The season started with a pseudo horde that apparently doesn't notice you if you're under a car. If only cars became fashionable as hats, the zombie outbreak would have ended in a matter of days...

Wow. Wow. I cannot believe all of the criticisms about the walking dead. This show is outstanding! nothing grips me more than having to wait another week to find out what happens next. Frank is fantastic but, is not the only reason to love or hate DEAD on TV. How about the story that is already present? the one created by the person that wrote the comic? This show is more than a story of zombie hordes, either. This is all about survival, people. How will people react when pushed to the edge? I am loving the character development and the evolvement of the group. And.....is that all you really want to see? Just zombies roaming around? Gross-out fests? c'mon people! Enjoy the show! (And Darabout left the show.) Would you rather watch "American Idol"? And let me add: if you can do a better show than AMC...I'm waiting.
