Post Just Wondering...

Recently, some of the big-budget production films like Dawn of the Dead and the 28 series have set the bar very high. With 25+ Zombie films being released each year, it puzzles me why no one has tried to create a goldmine of a movie such as these. Zombieland was a success mainly because of the humor and with hundreds of low budget, poorly filmed, and terribly acted out zombie movies, it seems I have hit a wall. None of the fake-looking cheap movies can scare me. Dawn of the Dead and both of the 28 movies leave me changing my pants and staying up with shotgun in hand at night while the plethera of low budget films leave me angry that I wasted my money and time. Im just wondering, when will they film another phenomenal zombie movie that will leave myself and my fellow zombie lovers in tears under the blanket? When...?

Probably when people stop paying to see crap. As long as teenagers will cough up their parent's dough to see poorly acted/written crapfests, they'll keep em' coming. I get sent a fair amount of low-budget horror to review, and a lot of it is on par with stuff you can find on YouTube. Fans need to stop settling for crap, and more passionate writers and filmmakers need to step up to the plate.

That said, Opstandelsen was a solid low-budget zombie flick. Deadgirl was not without its charm, and if you've not checked out REC yet, you really should.
