Whats Next For The Walking Dead?

February 12, 2012 marks the return of AMC’s epic, groundbreaking, breath-taking show The Walking Dead! This season will have a total (including what we have already seen) of 13 episodes and AMC has announced another 16 episodes for Season 3!

So what can we expect from the second half of the second season? Our sources (ROBERT friggin’ KIRKMAN) revealed that we can expect to see the true extent of evil that humans are capable of. If you aren’t caught up, prepare for a spoiler: at the mid-season finale, the crew found the missing girl (Sophia) in a barn with a bunch of other walkers. The release and slaughter of the dozens of walkers in the barn shakes the farm to core.

The second half of the season starts literally a few seconds after the events of the last episode. Kirkman says he does not regret the episodes spent looking for Sophia and that it did wonders to give the fans a huge pay-off in the form of the huge reveal! He also said it gave viewers a chance to get to know the characters better in the moments of calm. The forthcoming episodes will have much less “calm”…

” We started out searching for Sophia, and then things got a little bit heightened, when we found her in the barn. That’s going to lead to a lot of conflict. That’s going to lead to a new threat on the horizon, that you’ll see in our first episode back, which is really going to dovetail into a big series of events that’s going to lead us to our finale. ” -Robert Kirkman, Creator of The Walking Dead

Kirkman also explained that all the talk of Frank Darbont’s vision for Season 2 is pretty much what viewers are getting, so no more pouting about what could have been because it is what it is!

Fans can also expect much much more Undead, Gore, and edge-of-your-seat moments as the close of the season marks the addition of new characters (possibly fan favs from the Comic) and epic special effects!
