The Road To Hell is Through Zombie Valley

Creating your own decent micro-budget Zombie Film takes much more that just a camera and some make-up, and sometimes less.

A lot of work goes into making any film but even more when that film is horror… and if you are thinking Zombies… it may be easier to go construct your own full-sided pyramid from scratch without any modern tools.

What makes it so challenging? Well, first you need a story. Then you need to make that story into a script. Then you need volunteers… er, actors and crew, so that you don’t cut into your already non-existent budget.

You’ll need to do research: Locations, Permits (if needed) and the ever important illness/injury research for authenticity. The list really goes on and on and on. Sometimes… if you’re really creative/lucky, you can get around much of that with some well placed camera angles and the use of one of the oldest tools of horror: Suspense! Check out the new Zombie short below for an idea of what we’re talking about.

Within the next few weeks ZZN will be reviewing a new Barron’s book called Filming the Undead with much more detail! Stay safe!

About Steve The Zombie

Steve The Zombie has an interesting claim to undead fame- His cousin had such an impact on the Zombie community that XBOX made a game about him- A little game called "Stubbs the Zombie". Like Stubbs, in life Steve was a Salesman with excellent communication skills. In fact, his alter ego Steve Adelmund has published several Zombie News articles, a fictional Zombie book, founded and organizes an annual Zombie Walk for charity, and is an avid Zombologist dedicated to the advancement of understanding Zombies and knowing all things Zombie Survival. His perspective is unique, and the knowledge he shares may save your life.

When asked "You don't really believe in Zombies do you?", his typical answer is "Wait, you REALLY DON'T believe in Zombies?"
