Brad C. Hodson is best known as the head writer for the sketch comedy group: Happy Nowhere.  He's also written comedy for morning radio shows across the country.  His short fiction has attained a cult following and won numerous awards.  His first novel, Darling was recently completed, and is coming soon.  We are delighted that he was able to tell us about his new zombie movie, George's Intervention.  He is the writer and producer of this satirical homage to—among other things, the king of the living dead.  The cast includes Lynn Lowery and Peter Stickles, and … [Read more...]

Picking Brains with Wednesday Lee Friday: John McCuaig

MccFI

One of the coolest things about being an interviewer for ZZN is talking with all the amazing people that I wouldn't otherwise know about.  One such writer is Scotland-born John McCuaig.  Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1968, McCuaig moved down to London, England at age twenty and has been there ever since. By day, he works in the railways as a Production Manager to a team of engineers who maintain and repair commuter trains. Lives with Pam, his partner of 24 years. They are due to be married next February, on the 25th anniversary of their first meeting.  McCuaig has … [Read more...]

Picking Brains with Wednesday Lee Friday: Judith O’Dea

Jodea FI

Fans of Zombie Zone News are probably aware of my deep affection for Night of the Living Dead. It's the cornerstone of all things cannibalistic zombie—and EVERY zombie fan is obligated to sit down and watch it in its entirety. For serious. Don't make me hunt you down. For your watching convenience, I've attached a link to the film that you may view legally (and repeatedly). Caution **this interview contains spoilers of Night of the Living Dead** I was over-the-moon happy that Judith O'Dea was kind enough to answer a few Q's for us. Ms. O'Dea portrays … [Read more...]

Picking Brains with Wednesday Lee Friday: Natalie Hernandez and Elvis Quintero

Regular readers surely know by now that I dig Zombie Hunter. Nathan Greene is a cute-as-a-button redneck who also happens to be the finest zombie killer north (or south, for that matter) of the Mason-Dixon line. The new season just dropped, and it's everything fans want it to be: bloody, hilarious, and emphatically NSFW. Zombie Hunter Season Two—why wouldn't you subscribe? ZZN spoke with writer/director Jesse Dedman where he laid out his vision for the show. Today we pick the brains of lead actor Elvis Quintero, and new cast member Natalie Hernandez. … [Read more...]

Rick Grimes Stares Back at Fans…and no one else.

Grimes FI

**Contains Major Season Two Spoilers and a Minor Season Three Spoiler.** It's no secret that I have a few issues with The Walking Dead, all of which made themselves evident in season two. Fans in general were pretty divided about the whole thing. The long, boring search for Sophia. The far-too-early demise of a certain hat-enthusiast. Lori still being allowed to talk and drive and look after a child. Yeah, the second season had its irksome moments. But one thing you cannot say, is that lead character Rick Grimes does not have a piercing, haunting, eerie, and … [Read more...]

Picking Brains with Wednesday Lee Friday: What’s new with Stant Litore?

ZZN had the great pleasure of talking to author Stant Litore when he first began self-publishing his series: The Zombie Bible. Things have really exploded for him, and he is now signed with 47North. On August 14, new editions of Death Has Come Up into Our Windows and What Our Eyes Have Witnessed (previously self-published) arrived from his new publisher, 47North. A third and never-before-seen novel, Strangers in the Land arrives October 16, 2012. Fans are stoked! Despite how busy he finds himself these days, Stant Litore was kind enough to answer a few of our … [Read more...]

Picking Brains with Wednesday Lee Friday: Tom Berdinski

ITZM Header

Is it possible to love low-budget horror TOO much? Maybe. In the case of Michigan director Tom Berdinski though, his passion is our gain. The Italian Zombie Movie pts 1 and 2 is a truly staggering achievement. Sharp and funny, like Troma films meets Backyard Wrestling. It looks cheap because it was made with a budget of zero dollars and zero cents. When you watch, it's not difficult to figure out where all that money went. Ha! Copies of The Italian Zombie Movie are getting scarce. If you are lucky enough find see an available one, by all means, snag it! Tom … [Read more...]

Picking Brains with Wednesday Lee Friday: Julianne Snow

JulianneFI

If you aren't familiar with Canadian author Julianne Snow, then you probably don't know that she has recently released the first book in a series of undead fiction. Days with the Undead: Book One began as a web series, and has since been published in various digital formats, and trade paperback. Julianne was kind enough to answer some of my most pressing Q's about how her love of zombies has influenced her work. WLF/ZZN: Hey, thanks so much for taking the time to answer our Q's. I understand that you first saw Night of the Living Dead at a very young age. What … [Read more...]

Zombie Hunter Season Two Preview is Here!

ZH2 FI

Zombie Hunter: Season Two. The first-season adventures of a largely incompetent zombie hunter featured plenty of things I'd never seen before. The music rocked hard. These guys crack me up. Sure, they're silly and low-budget. They're also hilarious, bloody, and well on their way to a second season. That's right, Jesse Dedman and Elvis Quintero lead their band of zombies into what promises to be another fun season. I had the pleasure of speaking with Jesse Dedman about the first season of Zombie Hunter. I was pretty stoked when this preview dropped earlier … [Read more...]
