When three guys team up to enjoy the end of the world they automatically decide to upgrade their lives. The houses get bigger, the video games get better, the cars get faster and the women get undead. Here, Ash (Ashleigh Southam), Johnny (Robert Faith), and Morgan (Morgan Williams) decide to make camp in a fortified mansion. Everything is going great until inevitable enemy of boredom bites. It then becomes time to find a new location to get bored at. Things seem to be working out great until they come across a real live, breathing woman. Not only is she a woman but she’s a scientist with a smart mouth and a cute body. Just because the undead are roaming the earth searching for fresh meat doesn’t mean that men won’t turn into babbling idiots in front of a nice set of boobs.
This movie drives that point home in a clever yet obvious way. But don’t think that the zombies take a backseat while the romantic comedy ensues. One of the things I really liked about “Last of the Living” is the fact that the
zombies aren’t forgotten. They don’t just randomly show up but play and active role in the action of the movie, throughout the movie. I would recommend this film to guys who want a horror movie that will scare their date enough to make her cling tight to his arm without making her say “ewww, gross”.
“Last of the Living” is a smart, fun, ironic and zombieriffic ( yeah, I just made that word up) film that will definitely take a place in my indie zombie film library. Last of the Living was completed in 2008 by Gorilla Pictures. It’s
infection spread to North America in early 2010 through Echo Bridge Entertainment. I loved how they did the opening credits which made me think of 28 days later and who doesn’t love some good blood splatters! If you’re looking for a serious zombie movie with anchors in the real world this is not the movie for you. For example, if you’re going to watch this movie criticizing things like ” they can’t be watching TV because the power would be out” or “gas can’t last that long” or some other detail of the “real world” zombie apocalypse I suggest you rent a different movie.
Out of a possible five moaning, putrefied zombies I give this movie three and a half.

Things I loved about this movie: Johnny’s “Berserker” fight move and The Frank Woo’s title song, “Last of the Living” (which was the band Johnny was looking for in the record store).
I was kind of surprised by the ending (but I can’t say more without ruining the flick for those who haven’t seen it).
Great review…
