I Am Legend (2007, U.S.)

I Am Legend is chock full of tips for survival in the event of the Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse. The creepy Zombie-vampire mesh was portrayed well. The story, or course, is based on the novel I Am Legend by Richard Matheson.

Plot Summary: Robert Neville is a scientist who was unable to stop the spread of the terrible virus that was incurable and man-made. Immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and perhaps the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague — The Infected — lurk in the shadows… watching Neville’s every move… waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind’s last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered… and quickly running out of time.

This high budget Zombie movie was a hit for me.

Frightful Discussion

I’ve seen the original movie “The last man on Earth” with Vincent Price years ago, then saw the 1971 remake called “The Omega Man” with Charleston Heston, so when I heard that they were going to do ANOTHER remake of the same movie I held my head and sighed. I eventually got around to it and was really impressed. The scene where Samantha dies is probably one of the saddest scenes I’ve seen in a movie in a long time. But this is definitely a movie worth watching.

I'm not completely convinced that they are zombies… More neanderthal with Vampire qualities. They seem to be able to think, learn and show emotion.

Unlike 28days later they had rage but all they wanted to do is eat and run.

I Am Legend entertained me, but didn't think it was great.

    • I hear you. It's interesting to read the book, of which there is a review here. The book was on of the culture changers that introduced the idea of a worldwide type of "zombieish" apocalypse. It's often said that this, as well as some other things, laid the foundation for Romero's NOTLD. Have you seen The Last Man on Earth? Or better yet, Omega Man – each based on I Am Legend. They are bazar…

I have a bad attention span for books unfortunately. Unless it's a graphic novel… :D I know of the films but haven't seen them. But will definitely check em out to compare. It's always good to have our minds expanded with the idea of a zombie like apocalypse. It has soo much commentary on it.
