As Zombies continue to invade popular media, it's no surprise that they continue to inspire music videos. We at ZZN wanted to take pride in our ability to waste... er... invest countless hours scouring YouTube and the rest of the web to find Zombie stuff you may have missed! You are Welcome! 5. "Zombies, March!" - GWAR GWAR kick ass. Its kid of what they do. For those of you unfamiliar, think the hairy, gory muppets on Acid as envisioned by a serial killer. These guys are known for bringing the metal, pissing off their audience (by pissing on them) and live shows … [Read more...]

Wednesday Lee Friday Reviews: Aaron Stoquert’s Remaining Days

Stoquert2 FI

I'm gonna be up front about this, I dug the hell out of Aaron Stoquert's debut EP, Run for Your Life. It so eloquently captures the moody malaise of the transformation into one of the shambling undead. Run for Your Life is stylish, atmospheric, moving, and passionate. Pardon my skepticism, but I didn't see how the follow-up could possibly match, let alone surpass, R4YL. I was downright apprehensive about listening to Remaining Days. I didn't want to be disappointed if it felt rushed, or overproduced, or in any other way sub-par. I needn't have worried. If … [Read more...]

Zombie Girl: Providing the Soundtrack For a Beautiful Apocalypse

Sometimes you stumble across perfect combinations: chocolate and peanut butter, geeks and comic books, dance electronica, rock beats and the undead. Wait…what?! Well, if you don’t believe those last three things mesh to perfection, clearly you haven’t been listening to Zombie Girl. “Who doesn't love zombies?” mused Renee Cooper (or Zombie Girl, as she’s better known to the world) during our online conversation. Granted, she’s kind of preaching to the undead choir here at Zombie Zone News, but the point remains. This dark electro-dance mistress has been … [Read more...]

Picking Brains with Wednesday Lee Friday: Aaron Stoquert

ZZNASplaceholder

Fans may recall that Zombie Zone News's own Surfin' Dead introduced our readers to Aaron Stoquert back in February. Since then, I have had the very great pleasure of persuading Aaron to discuss his EP, Run for your Life, with us. His is a new and innovative take on music for the undead. In fact, one might argue that it is music entirely from the zombie perspective. The album seeks to convey the stark sadness and hungry desperation of the zombpocalypse to come. Stoquert encourages introspection over mindless fear, knowledge over cowering in darkness, as he explores … [Read more...]

Aaron Stoquert: Creating Slow Jams For The Zombie Community

aaron stoquert - run for your life (thumb)

I'm pretty sure that Cannibal Corpse has outright lied to me for the last couple decades. They always professed that death metal was the official musical language of the undead, but now...I'm just not sure. You see, Aaron Stoquert has reached out to the zombie community with his new EP Run For Your Life. He has taken the time to truly bond with his new revenant comrades, and you can really hear the anguish of the undying...through tender folk songs. And isn't that what you'd expect from the hordes we've come to love? An acoustic guitar is certainly more portable … [Read more...]

Jet Black Berries: They Walk Among Us!

jet black berries - thumb

When I heard that a band featured on the original Return of the Living Dead soundtrack was spinning more hits from the crypt, I was giddy with excitement. I mean, my whole persona on Zombie Zone News is based around The Cramps' legendary song "Surfin' Dead", from that very album! And now, The Jet Black Berries - the group who contributed the phenomenal "Love Under Will" to that same fine collection of punk treasures - have dug their way out of their graves. On their way out, they claimed their first victim - their new frontman, Johnny Cummings. (And yes, that … [Read more...]
