Picking Brains with Wednesday Lee Friday: Brad Hodson

Hodson FI

Brad C. Hodson is best known as the head writer for the sketch comedy group: Happy Nowhere.  He's also written comedy for morning radio shows across the country.  His short fiction has attained a cult following and won numerous awards.  His first novel, Darling was recently completed, and is coming soon.  We are delighted that he was able to tell us about his new zombie movie, George's Intervention.  He is the writer and producer of this satirical homage to—among other things, the king of the living dead.  The cast includes Lynn Lowery and Peter Stickles, and … [Read more...]

Rick Grimes Stares Back at Fans…and no one else.

Grimes FI

**Contains Major Season Two Spoilers and a Minor Season Three Spoiler.** It's no secret that I have a few issues with The Walking Dead, all of which made themselves evident in season two. Fans in general were pretty divided about the whole thing. The long, boring search for Sophia. The far-too-early demise of a certain hat-enthusiast. Lori still being allowed to talk and drive and look after a child. Yeah, the second season had its irksome moments. But one thing you cannot say, is that lead character Rick Grimes does not have a piercing, haunting, eerie, and … [Read more...]

Ten Ways The Walking Dead has Jumped the Shark

TWDCrap FI

Like most of you, I was super stoked to learn that Frank Darabont was developing a TV version of The Walking Dead. The good news kept pouring in: Bear McCreary doing the music, Greg Nicotero heading up the FX, a fantastic cast, and a network willing to drop a lot of time and money into the project. It was all so promising. Season One blew my mind with its Awesome. I was even more stoked for Season Two. And then, between seasons 1 and 2, the whole thing turned to Suck right before my eyes. I half expected Shane to throw on some water skis and jump that shark from … [Read more...]

Rest in Peace, Bill Hinzman

HInzmanFI

Zombie Zone News is sad to report the death of Bill Hinzman on February 5, 2012. He lost his battle with cancer at age 75. The first cannibalistic zombie to ever appear in film, Hinzman played the cemetery ghoul in the original Night of the Living Dead. In addition to pioneering the zombies we know and love today, Hinzman worked as a cameraman, acted in several other films, directed and even produced movies. He attended conventions and loved interacting with fans. All who knew or met him described Bill Hinzman as a great guy, one who was friendly and kind and … [Read more...]

Save the Evans City Cemetery Chapel!

Night of the Living Dead.. If you're a fan of slow zombies, survivor infighting, adorably terrifying little girl zombies, redneck-based anti-ghoul defense, chicks inexplicably falling down during the chase, suddenly realizing you don't have the car keys, day for night photography, and the very idea of zombies who are also cannibals hungry for human flesh, you've got Night of the Living Dead to thank for it. The likes of George Romero, John Russo, Karl Hardman, Russ and Gary Streiner, Kyra Schon, and the rest of the cast and crew, have given us the zombies we know … [Read more...]
